Tyler Ellis: Where are you originally from?
Kate Davidson Hudson: I grew up in the Northeast. I still live here so I’m pretty much a Northeast girl through-and-through.

TE: How did you get started in your career, and what do you love most about it?

KDH: My first job out of college was writing at Harper’s Bazaar in New York. I quickly transitioned over to the fashion department and built my career from there at Harper’s Bazaar, ELLE and ELLE Accessories. I loved the energy of the industry, the industriousness and creativity of the people who worked in it, and the passion everyone brought to their jobs. To this day, some of my closest friends and biggest mentors are people I met while cutting my teeth. I feel incredibly privileged to have worked in the industry at the time that I did, and to still be working in it at a time when it’s going through such monumental, structural changes. It’s an exciting and highly disruptive time, but I think sometimes you are able to cull so much inspiration from periods of large-scale change.

TE: How would you describe the Tyler Ellis brand?

KDH: Timeless, effortlessly chic, pristine construction and impeccable design details. Tyler Ellis bags embody a sense of quiet sophistication that I think only true luxury consumers (and fashion girls) recognize.

TE: Which Tyler Ellis bag to do you resonate most with and why?  How does it coordinate with your personal style?

KDH: Tyler’s bags check a lot of boxes for me. I love how clean and perfectly thought-out her stable of clutches are—specifically the Lee and the Ava shapes. I can wear them with, quite literally, everything in my closet, and they are seasonless. I have also had a medium-sized Caroline tote that has traveled the globe with me. I use it both as a day bag and as a travel bag. There is something about it—aside from being perfectly oversized enough to fit my life without feeling overwhelming, it feels perennially polished so whether I’m traveling in sweats and a t-shirt or running between meetings, it’s one of the most versatile pieces in my wardrobe.

TE: Who is your style icon?

KDH: Kate Moss and I share a birthday so the icon title always goes to her in my book.

TE: Perfect evening: night in or night on the town?

KDH: It depends on the company ;)

TE: What are your passions or hobbies?

KDH: I have two small children, so whatever they’re excited about at the moment becomes a focus of mine on my down time. My true escape is going out to the country to go riding. It’s something I’ve done my whole life and is definitely a passion of mine.

TE: What is your next trip or dream destination?

KDH: Anywhere warm with my kids and limited cell reception. This New York winter has me dreaming of anywhere with sunny skies.

TE: What are your travel must-haves?

KDH: A phone charger, good reading materials, my La Prairie moisturizer and comfortable travel clothes. At the end of the day, I’m a pretty low-maintenance traveler.

TE: What is your favorite city, hotel and restaurant?
KDH: Paris, Le Meurice and Caviar Kaspia.

TE: What is your go-to cocktail or drink?

KDH: A dirty martini with Grey Goose.

TE: What’s your favorite cheat meal?

KDH: Does a hot fudge sundae count as a meal?
