Name: Barbara Martelo

Lives in: Madrid, Spain

Profession: Fashion Stylist and Consultant

Tyler Ellis was honored to work with world-renowned fashion stylist Barbara Martelo on her Spring Summer 2018 “Soho Collection” campaign. In honor of the collection’s debut, we asked Barbara a few choice questions.

Tyler Ellis: What drew you to your profession, and what do you love most about it?

Barbara Martelo: Definitely my passion for fashion. After finishing law school, my first job was at the legal department of Inditex (the owners of Zara and other brands). I knew right away my days as a lawyer were counted.

TE: Who is your style icon and why?

BM: I do not think I have a style icon. There are many women that inspire me. It can be very unconnected. Carolina de Monaco, Kate Moss and Carolyn Bessette Kennedy are a few.

TE: How would you describe your personal style?
BM: Classic and a bit masculine but sexy.

TE: What is your current can’t-live-without fashion item?
BM: Manolo Blahnik shoes. It’s more of a permanent “can`t-live-without” than a current, though!

TE: Which bag from the Tyler Ellis SS18 collection would fit best with your

personal style?

BM: The Perry Clutch in black matte satin. I love the material.

TE: How would you personally style the Tyler Ellis Perry Clutch?
BM: With a white T-shirt, a pair of jeans and Manolo Blahnik black Spezia sandals.

TE: You travel frequently. What are some of your favorite destinations, and why?
BM:
Japan—it is so delicate and refined. And anywhere with white sand and an empty beach.

TE: What is your favorite hotel?

BM: The Four Seasons Hotel George V in Paris. I have to be there all the time for work, but somehow they make it feel like home.

TE: What is your favorite cocktail?

BM: A Gin Fizz

TE: What do you do to unwind?

My husband, my children and my dog. Being around them is the only thing that can make me unwind!
